Elwick Road, Ashford

Transformation of an existing one-way three-lane road, applying a shared space philosophy, into a two-way ‘civilised’ street with 20mph speed limit. The scheme creates a more permeable link from the station and town centre to a southern expansion area.

A linear artwork by Simeon Nelson provides a distinctive surface engraving which captures rainwater to express the significance of the river within the town.
