We are delighted to share that the detail planning application for West Beach Newhaven was recently approved by Lewes District Council unanimously. The scheme comprises a destination restaurant, community facilities, outdoor gym, extensive children’s play and splash pad, sympathetically integrated within a sensitive landscape setting close to an SSSI and Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Turkington Martin worked closely with Morgan Carn Architects, Bakerwell Environmental Services and ECE Planning to achieve a harmonious solution on behalf of Lewes District Council. Inspiration for the landscape design drew reference from the form, patterns and textures of the site’s natural surroundings. The result is a series of layers extending across the site from the Old Battery in the east to the retained vegetated shingle and grassland to the west. An underlying expression of elegant wave forms are reflected in the path layout, built features and the new and retained ecological areas.
